ABOUT

MISSION AND HISTORY

The Emerald Lighthouse's mission is to create a safe space intended to reduce isolation in the LGBTQ+ community, while simultaneously educating the community and those around them.  We do this by bringing love, support and guidance to our youth, along with providing diversity and LGBTQ+ sensitivity trainings to individuals and companies that work with them.

While living in South Florida, Christina and Stephanie volunteered and worked at an amazing LGBTQ+ non-profit organization.  Both women were in awe by the changes and support that the organization provided and wanted to bring similar support to the youth and young adults when they moved to Delaware. While the vision was there, it wasn't until Spring of 2021 that The Emerald Lighthouse came to fruition.

Currently we offer a monthly LGBTQ+ Teen Group for ages 12-17, and trainings for organizations working to strengthen their support of LGBTQ+ people.

This program serves youth ages 14-21 that are in need of assistance being connected to LGBTQ friendly resources for Individual/Family counseling services, Peer support groups, mentoring, Healthcare, HIV/STD Testing/ Substance Abuse, Getting back into school, Volunteer/community services and Employment resources.

Mental Health Counseling

We partner with Rising Hope Therapy, LLC.  If you are seeking adolescent, individual or family therapy in an LGBTQ friendly practice this may be the place for you.  They take most major insurances including medicaid and will work with you if you're experiencing financial hardship. We don't turn anyone away for financial reasons.

Do you work with youth and young adults? Does your company need a little more support around LGBTQ+ training and education? You've come to the right place.  We believe the best way to increase awareness and inclusiveness, is through education!

We provides fee-for-service training to businesses and agencies to help them improve their cultural proficiency to more successfully interact with LGBTQ+ and Transgender clients and/students.

Drop-In Teen Groups

Community and Volunteer Services

Drop-in during scheduled times to connect with other youth. These drop-ins are geared towards allowing our youth to feel heard, seen or just supported amongst their peers. During these times, there will always be great conversation, activities, games, and other folks there to support you.

There will be planned events where our youth will be able to service the community through different programs and activities. These will be counted towards any mandatory community service hours needed for their graduation credits, or just for our superstars that just love to give back.
